Code 4 Climate Hackathon

On July 4 and 5, 2026, the Code 4 Climate Hackathon took place virtually, bringing together Y4S Sustainability Ambassador members to tackle real-world challenges with innovative solutions. Hosted by the Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S) initiative, the Hackathon offered participants hands-on experience in integrating artificial intelligence into mobile applications to address critical global priorities, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 13 and SDG 8.

Participants faced the challenge of coding an AI-enabled mobile app to develop solutions for climate and sustainability challenges. Guided by five core skills – technical proficiency, problem-solving in climate action, teamwork, innovation and communication – the teams presented their solutions to a jury panel during Pitch Day on July 8 at the Siemens Energy Innovation Centre in Abu Dhabi, showcasing their creativity and determination to drive impactful change.

This event empowered young innovators to advance their skills while contributing to sustainable development, emphasizing the critical intersection of technology and climate action.
